Self-similar solution of a supercritical two-phase laminar mixing layer

Previous works for a liquid suddenly contacting gas at supercritical pressure show the coexistence of both phases and generation diffusion layers on sides liquid-gas interface due to local thermodynamic phase equilibrium. A related numerical study laminar mixing layer between streams in near field splitter plate suggests that mass, momentum thermal evolve self-similar manner very high pressures. In this paper, high-pressure, two-phase, mixing-layer equations are recast terms similarity variable. hydrocarbon gaseous oxygen considered. Freestream conditions proper matching applied. To solve system equations, real-fluid model based Soave-Redlich-Kwong equation state is selected. comparison with results obtained by directly solving shows validity approach applied non-ideal two-phase flows. Even when hotter than liquid, net condensation can occur pressures while heat conducts into liquid. Finally, generalized correlation proposed represent evolution thickness different problem configurations.
